There will be a Watercolor Demonstration by Nancy Howard, on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 7pm at the Canal Gallery Building – Studio One – 380 Dwight Street, Holyoke, MA

Nancy holds a Maters on Landscape Architecture from the University of Massachusetts and is a 1980 Graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Rhode Island School of Design.

Nancy has been drawing and painting in the Pioneer Valley for the past 15 years. While working towards her master’s degree in landscape architecture at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, her interests in painting, art in the landscape, and the role of artists in community, was rekindled.

Nancy sketches on site, paying particular attention to the relationship of the built environment with land, plants, water and sky. She is interested in how color, light and shadow describe form and space. Direct watercolor painting of flowers and still life continues to be a pleasure. Nancy recently completed a large mural in Easthampton using acrylic paints and plans to show some acrylic paintings along with her watercolors.
